Your Northern Ohio Chapter of Air & Waste Management again provided special awards at the 65th annual Northeast Ohio Science and Engineering Fair held at Cleveland State University on March 13, 2018. The Chapter provided cash awards for 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize for best environmental projects. The winning project titles in order were: “The Power of Dirt”, “Fertilizer: Greening Your Grass or Polluting Our Water”? and “Saving Our Water in a Crisis: What Absorbs the Most Oil”? The Northern Ohio Chapter of Air & Waste Management Association (NOC AWMA) marked its 30th year of existence in 2016. We are celebrating this event (though a year late) on July 22nd at our annual Akron Rubber Ducks game. We have reserved one of the Tiki Terrace Picnic areas at the game which includes an all-you-can-eat picnic style buffet before and about an hour into the game. A cash bar will be available for those that are interested in adult beverages. While we normally provide tickets to members at no charge due to the additional cost we will be charging a nominal fee which includes the game and buffet. The members price for the first two tickets is $10 per ticket, non-members are $15 for the first two tickets. Additional tickets will be $25 which is our cost. Signups for the event are now available. Please use the drop down menu at the top of the page for Current Events and the Registration tab. You can pay for the event by credit card. Game time is 7:05 pm. The all-you-can-eat buffet is available from 6:05 to 8:05 pm. Bob Perry has the tickets and wrist bands for the game and buffet. Bob can mail them out or can make arrangements for the tickets at the Will Call Window just prior to the game.
We invite you to come and reminisce with other Chapter members and enjoy the game and buffet. To top off the evening fireworks are scheduled to follow the game, weather permitting.
The next All Ohio Environmental Conference will be held in Columbus, OH on August 10, 2017. The events are co-sponsored by the Southwest and Northern Ohio Chapters of the Air and Waste Management Association. Outstanding corporate support is also provided by Shumaker Loop and Kendrick, LLC for which this event would likely not be possible. The location is the Doubletree Suites Hotel in Downtown Columbus. Our Northern Ohio Chapter will be holding its Fall event at Platform Beer Company starting at 5 pm (registration 430). The event will feature Michael McMahon of McMahon and DeGulis, LLP. Mike has graciously agreed to share his thoughts concerning Environmental Consent Orders between the federal government and local governments and the lengthy obligations they require. We also plan an additional speaker covering a related environmental topic.
Our Chapter will be providing food for the event. A cash bar will be available so you can sample some of Platform’s fine beverages. The cost of the event is $15 to cover the cost of the food. We now have tickets for NOC AWMA night at the Akron Rubber Ducks versus Portland Sea Dogs on August 13, 2016. Fireworks are scheduled right after the game weather permitting of course. Come and enjoy an evening with your fellow colleagues, watch some baseball and enjoy the fireworks. Canal Park is a great place to watch a baseball game.
